The Farm Life – Garden Rules

Welcome to The Farm Life! To keep our garden safe, productive, and enjoyable for everyone, please follow these rules:

1. Respect the Land and Each Other

  • Treat all garden members, volunteers, and visitors with kindness.
  • Respect the earth, plants, animals, and tools as shared resources.
  • No harassment, bullying, or disrespectful behavior will be tolerated.

2. Membership & Plots

  • Each member is responsible for their assigned plot (if applicable) and must keep it weeded, watered, and in good condition.
  • Garden plots not maintained for more than 30 days may be reassigned.
  • Shared areas (orchards, herb beds, paths) are the responsibility of all members.

3. Hours of Access

  • Members may access the garden during daylight hours unless otherwise announced.
  • Gates must be closed after entering and leaving.

4. Tools & Equipment

  • Shared tools must be cleaned and returned to their proper place after use.
  • Report any damaged or broken tools to garden leadership.
  • Personal tools should be clearly marked and stored properly.

5. Water Use

  • Conserve water — use only what is necessary for your plants.
  • Hoses must be turned off and neatly coiled after use.
  • Report leaks or irrigation issues immediately.

6. Organic & Sustainable Practices

  • Only organic, chemical-free gardening practices are allowed.
  • No synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers.
  • Compost bins are for approved materials only (no meat, dairy, or oils).

7. Harvesting & Sharing

  • Harvest only from your assigned plot unless given permission.
  • Shared crops will be designated and available to all members.
  • Excess produce may be donated to the community as agreed.

8. Safety Rules

  • Children must be supervised at all times.
  • No climbing on fences, sheds, or equipment.
  • No smoking, vaping, drugs, or alcohol on garden grounds.
  • Pets must remain outside the garden unless otherwise approved.

9. Waste & Cleanliness

  • Please take your trash and recyclables home with you.
  • Keep pathways clear and free of tools or debris.
  • Report vandalism or safety hazards promptly.

10. Membership Accountability

  • Members must fulfill their dues or volunteer hour requirements.
  • Repeated violations of these rules may result in membership suspension or termination by the Board of Directors.

11. Code of Conduct Enforcement

Any member found engaging in unethical, racist, unkind, harassing, threatening, stealing, or vandalizing behavior will have their membership immediately terminated. Such individuals will no longer be permitted on The Farm Life property, and no membership refunds will be issued.
