For the Kiddo’s

🌱 Hands-On Gardening & Farm Activities

  • “Little Sprouts” Planting Day – We let kids plant their own veggie starts or flowers in mini pots to take home.
  • Harvest Festival – Seasonal event with pumpkin carving, apple tasting, and scavenger hunts.
  • Bug Safari – Guided exploration to learn about pollinators, worms, and beneficial insects.
  • Compost & Worm Bin Discovery – Show the magic of food scraps turning into soil with hands-on worm bin demos.

🍓 Education Through Play

  • Farm School Days – Simple stations for kids that will include: seed sorting, soil science, watering practice, etc.
  • “Grow Your Own Pizza” Workshop – We will teach kids how to plant herbs and veggies like basil, tomatoes, and peppers.
  • Storytime in the Garden – Local storyteller or librarian will read books about nature, farming, and food.
  • Garden Science Lab – Kid-friendly experiments like measuring plant growth or making sun prints.

🐐 Animal & Nature Connection

  • Meet the Animals – Safe interactions with chickens, goats, or rabbits. Teach care basics.

🎨 Creative & Cultural Fun

  • Garden Art Day – Paint rocks, make plant markers, or build fairy houses from natural materials.
  • Nature Music Jam – Create music with natural objects (sticks, leaves, stones) or invite a folk musician for a garden concert.
  • Multicultural Garden Festival – Share food, music, and traditions from the cultures of your community—centered around plants or farming.

🧺 Family & Community Events

  • Picnic in the Garden – Encourage families to bring a blanket and enjoy a meal surrounded by growing things. (Weather permitting)
  • Volunteer with Kids Days – Special sessions where children and parents can help with planting, watering, or weeding—age-appropriate tasks only.
  • Seed Swap & Story Swap – Families bring seeds and share garden stories, traditions, or family recipes.

For the Teens & Adults

🌿 Hands-On Gardening & Farming Activities

  • Volunteer Work Days – Adults come together to weed, plant, mulch, and build infrastructure (beds, trellises, etc.).
  • Community Harvest Days – Community crop harvesting, followed by a shared/pot luck meal and produce giveaway.
  • Garden Maintenance Workshops – Learn pruning, compost turning, or irrigation basics with hands-on demos.
  • Crop Mob Events – Rotate help among local gardens/farms, where each group takes a turn hosting and receiving help.

🍅 Education & Skill-Building Workshops

  • Composting 101 – Learn the science and practice of building healthy compost systems.
  • Seed Saving Workshop – Learn how to harvest, clean, and store seeds from the garden.
  • Organic Gardening Basics – Learn soil health, crop rotation, natural pest control, and seasonal planning.
  • Preserving the Harvest – Learn pickling, fermenting, canning, or drying herbs and veggies.
  • Herbal Medicine Making – Learn growing, harvesting, and making salves, teas, or tinctures from medicinal plants.

🌻 Wellness & Connection Events

  • Yoga on the Farm – Yoga with a local instructor in a peaceful setting.
  • Mindfulness Walks – Guided meditative walks or journaling activities on the land.
  • Sunset Garden Tales Hour – A BYO picnic and drink event for socializing and relaxing under the stars.
  • Garden-to-Table Dinners – A small, community-hosted meal featuring garden-grown produce
  • Book Club on the Farm – Read and discuss books related to food justice, farming, or nature.

🍽️ Community & Social Events

  • Plant & Produce Swap – Encourage sharing seedlings, harvest extras, seeds, or tools.
  • Garden Movie Night – Outdoor screening of a food/farming documentary or lighthearted movie.
  • Farm Open House – Invite the community to explore, tour the space, meet volunteers, and learn how to get involved.
  • DIY Garden Craft Night – Make macrame plant holders, bee hotels, seed bombs, or herb wreaths.
  • Storytelling Circles – Invite elders or farmers to share their garden-related stories or cultural traditions.

🎉 Seasonal & Themed Events

  • Spring Planting Festival – Celebrate the start of the growing season with planting activities and food.
  • Summer Solstice Celebration – Music, local food, and garden blessings.
  • Fall Harvest Party – Pumpkin carving (BYOP), cider tasting, and end-of-season reflections.
  • Winter Planning Potluck – Gather over warm food and plan next season’s crops and community efforts.
